Hello World
A lot has happened since the first post, among them University replies, R-esults or D-day if you like, a memorable trip, and realisations. I'll be doing med still, starting Feb' 07 at IMU in KL, Malaysia. By then, *gasp*, yes. I will be 2-0. yes. The digit 2 will be the blemish/first digit of my age. As always however, the future beckons.
Its probably dawned on those of us who have completed or are in the process of completing our highschool/college years at some point or another, that from hereforth, we step into the real world, to the rest of adulthood. So, what next? Which course will I take at university and what will be my future career? You don't want to wake up one day, middle-aged, tethering on the brink of a mid-life crisis, look back and regret on a life changing decision you made years and years ago. But thats an extreme view of the situation. Someone wise once said to me that some people will revolve their occupations several times before becoming settling for something they're satisfied with. Whatever the outcome, accept the past..not dwell and regret, and embrace the future.
As for myself, am I making the right decision by taking med? Personally, I've always harboured significant interest in biological sciences, especially that of human anatomy. But ofcourse that alone doesn't justify why I'd be suited at being a MD, a doctor. Perhaps further accentuated by watching a bunch of "Scrubs" episodes, a sitcom built around hospital resident doctors, but its the satisfaction of helping individuals in need, expecting nothing in return. There are constant instances throughout our lives, the feeling you receive when you've done a good deed, aided someone whether asked for or not, or just being there for someone, that sort of satisfaction. I think thats an important part of being a doctor, saving lives, easing discomfort, and making a difference. Is it my calling? As of now, I'm not 100% sure, but I think I've made the right decision about my future. =P complaints about the difficulty and bulk in studying med will come in a future post. haha.
For those from my IB experience, its a cliche they repeat at most if not all prom graduations, but we're going places all over this globe from australia to the UK, have a diverse range of jobs from one to the other in the future. I wish you luck and success in your future endeavours. You've all contributed to my personal growth, some more than others, and I thank you.
The future is uncertain.. but we continue to live, to learn, to believe and to make the best of it.
and.. <3
